The Senate completed work on a package of bills today to combat the state’s heroin and opioid epidemic by improving prescription drug monitoring, limiting opioid prescriptions, targeting drug dealers and taking other steps to limit the damage inflicted by the addiction crisis in Pennsylvania communities.

Senator Michele Brooks offers a resolution recognizing the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Senate Republicans highlighted a package of bills today to combat the state’s heroin and opioid epidemic by improving prescription drug monitoring, limiting opioid prescriptions, targeting drug dealers and taking other steps to limit the damage inflicted by the addiction crisis in Pennsylvania communities.

A package of bills was approved today by the Senate Transportation Committee, chaired by Senator Kim Ward (R-39), reforming Pennsylvania’s vehicle emissions testing program, also referred to as the Vehicle Emissions Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program.

Sen. Brooks recently took part in a hearing re-examining the list of 25 counties included in the state’s mandatory vehicle emissions inspection program. If PA is meeting air quality standards, especially with the volume of newer vehicles on the road, can the program be adjusted to reflect the changes, senators asked.
