Senate Adopts Child Abuse Prevention Month Resolution

The Senate adopted a Resolution 63 introduced by Senator Michele Brooks designating April 2015 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Pennsylvania.

In 2013, there were 3,425 substantiated cases of child abuse in the Commonwealth, with 38 children dying as a result of abuse and neglect.

“My resolution recognizes and commends the efforts being made to guarantee a childhood free of abuse and victimization for every child in this Commonwealth,” said Senator Brooks, Chairwoman of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee. “Child abuse can and must be prevented and awareness raised, so that families realize they have access to community resources which offer support, information and guidance to help stop or prevent abusive behaviors or conditions.”
