Brooks Announces $320,000 for Crawford County Projects

State Assistance for local projects

HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced the release of state funding for a series of important projects in Crawford County, supporting several organizations which provide vital services to the community.

“From investing in access to childcare and important community recreational opportunities, to assisting our local first responders with the resources they need to keep our families safe, this funding will have a positive impact for residents throughout Crawford County, while helping to attract new families to the area,” said Brooks. “It’s vital we help equip our fire and EMS personnel with the tools they need to protect our communities. When someone suffers a cardiac emergency, seconds matter, and the lifesaving equipment being purchased with these funds will save lives and improve health outcomes during an emergency medical response.”

Meadville Family YMCA will receive $60,000 for a critical gymnasium ceiling renovation project to address deteriorating infrastructure and provide a safe, high-quality space for youth programs, sports, wellness activities, childcare and community events.

“This grant is a transformative investment in the Meadville YMCA, helping us replace a deteriorating gymnasium ceiling and ensuring our facility remains safe, accessible and available to our high-quality childcare program, along with the entire community,” said Tina Carter, chief executive officer Meadville YMCA.

The North Shenango Community Center will receive $75,000 to be used for construction and new equipment.

“This community center is an important part of North Shenango Township, providing a welcoming gathering place for local families and children while hosting community events and fun activities, including musical programs and trick-or-treating,” said Brooks. “These centers help bring neighbors together and strengthen community connections.”

Other projects include:

  • $40,000 for the Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department ambulance to purchase new cardiac monitor, giving them the availability to expand from basic life support to advanced life support response.
  • $35,000 for the City of Meadville EMS to be used for new CPR equipment.
  • $75,000 for the Meadville Area Recreation Complex to be used for construction and new equipment.
  • $35,000 for Hayfield Township for road maintenance and equipment.
