HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) today announced Linesville will receive a $3.56 million Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) grant to improve water infrastructure in Crawford County.
“These improvements will help ensure reliable water service and adequate fire protection for Linesville residents while helping to prevent the significant rate increases that would otherwise be necessary to complete these required improvements,” Brooks said. “As a former borough council member, I understand how challenging it is on residents to fund these large projects and I will always work to secure funding to help get them completed.”
The funding will support the replacement of approximately 7,000 feet of aging, undersized waterlines, the installation of new service connections and fire hydrants, and full surface restoration. The project will address frequent waterline breaks, potential lead-containing components and significant water loss throughout the system.
PENNVEST is an independent state agency that provides financial assistance for sewer, storm water and drinking water projects in communities across the commonwealth. Its financing is provided through the use of federal funding and prior bond issues by the state as well as proceeds from the Marcellus Shale Impact Fee legislation, Act 13 of 2012.
