HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) today announced a $74,900 state grant has been awarded to the City of New Castle to support improvements at Deshon Park in Lawrence County.
The funding will support the rehabilitation of Deshon Park, including construction of new pedestrian walkways and parking areas; installation of bleachers; ADA accessibility improvements; landscaping; a project sign and other related site improvements.
“These improvements will make Deshon Park more accessible and functional for residents, while helping ensure this important community recreation space can be enjoyed for years to come,” said Brooks. “I am glad to see this funding coming to Lawrence County.”
The grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which provides funding to support parks, recreation and conservation projects across Pennsylvania.
