CRAWFORD – Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced $1,485,844 has been awarded for Phase 2 of the Spillway Trail Extension Project at Pymatuning State Park.

Planned work includes clearing and widening the existing trail, improving the trail base, installing culverts, adding an asphalt base and wearing surface, and improving safety at road crossings and intersections.

“This investment will build on the huge success that Phase 1 of the project had and continue to strengthen recreational opportunities at Pymatuning while making the trail safer and more accessible for residents and visitors alike,” Brooks said. “Not only is Pymatuning State Park important to local families, but it also plays a role in supporting many local businesses with the thousands of tourists that visit every year.”

The project will be funded through the 2025 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) program to support major trail improvements designed to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists visiting the park and surrounding area. It is part of a statewide investment of more than $74 million in 72 community infrastructure projects focused on improving pedestrian, bicycle and transit access across Pennsylvania.
