HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) today announced a combined $87,200 in Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) funding to support recreation planning projects in Grove City Borough and Sharon City in Mercer County.
Grove City Borough was awarded $62,500 to prepare a comprehensive recreation, park and open space plan. The project will include an electronic written report to help guide the borough’s future planning.
“Planning is an important first step in making sure our communities have recreational opportunities that meet the needs of residents today and into the future,” said Brooks. “These funds will help Grove City and Sharon develop thoughtful plans for their parks and open spaces while strengthening the quality of life for residents.”
Sharon City was awarded $24,700 to prepare a master site development plan for the 1-acre Triangle Park. The project will include an electronic written report and site development drawing.
The Triangle Park project will help transform a recently cleared brownfield site into a functional public greenspace in downtown Sharon. The planned park will include pedestrian pathways, seating, landscaping and connectivity to existing trail systems.
“Triangle Park presents an opportunity to turn an underutilized site into a welcoming community asset,” Brooks said. “This investment will support Sharon’s efforts to enhance its downtown and create a space where residents can gather and enjoy the outdoors.”
C2P2 is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and provides funding for community recreation, conservation and revitalization projects across Pennsylvania.
