HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) today announced the City of Farrell has been awarded a $45,000 state grant through the Municipal Assistance Program (MAP) to support the development of an implementable comprehensive plan for Farrell’s future.
“I’m pleased to see this funding come to Mercer County and support Farrell’s efforts to create a stronger community and a brighter economic future,” said Brooks. “Having a clear, actionable plan will help the city build on the revitalization work already taking place and make the most of future opportunities.”
The 10-year comprehensive plan will focus on housing development, neighborhood revitalization and economic investments designed to attract people and maximize Farrell’s economic potential. It also will position the city to pursue future public-private partnerships and additional resources for priority projects.
MAP grants provide funding to help municipalities and counties develop and implement community planning and shared-services programs. Eligible projects can include comprehensive plans, land-use ordinances, transit revitalization studies, regional police and fire services, shared personnel agreements, boundary change studies and other initiatives designed to strengthen local communities.
