HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced more than $34.7 million has been secured to improve roads in Crawford, Mercer and Lawrence counties as part of this year’s state budget.
The 2026-27 state budget requires the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to expedite the release of an additional $775 million from the Motor License Fund over the next two fiscal years for shovel-ready road projects across the commonwealth, including $500 million this fiscal year to support projects during the current construction season and $275 million in 2027-28.
“As part of this year’s budget, we required PennDOT to get these transportation dollars out the door, instead of waiting years to allocate the funding for these long-needed road improvements,” Brooks said. “This funding release will result in road and bridge projects across the 50th District seeing immediate progress.”
As part of the state budget agreement:
- Crawford County’s portion is $13,175,607.60
- Mercer County’s portion is $12,897,817.54
- Lawrence County’s portion is $8,682,264.34
