HARRISBURG –– Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has approved nearly $9 million in financial assistance for a water enhancement project in Lawrence County.
The City of New Castle in Lawrence County will receive a $5 million loan and $3.8 million grant to replace 603 service lines that contain lead or galvanized materials, resulting in increased reliability and safety of drinking water.
“I’m grateful that PENNVEST has awarded this critical funding, which will allow New Castle to replace aging service lines, improving the health and safety of area residents,” Brooks said. “These investments not only protect our families and neighborhoods but also strengthen the foundation for future growth and economic stability across Lawrence County.”
PENNVEST is a financing authority that provides low-cost financial assistance to address water, wastewater, stormwater and non-point source pollution problems that impact public health, safety, the environment, regulatory compliance and economic development.
