Brooks: City of Sharon Awarded $135,000 for Traffic Safety Improvements

HARRISBURG — Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced today that the City of Sharon will receive $135,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) grant program to improve traffic safety and accessibility at key intersections.

The funding will be used to update pavement markings at five signalized and two unsignalized intersections along State Street, as well as replace an outdated warning sign with an overhead flashing warning device at the intersection of E. Connelly Boulevard and Smith Avenue.

“The safety of our residents and visitors is always a top priority,” Brooks said. “These improvements will help reduce crashes, improve visibility and make our intersections safer for drivers and pedestrians alike.”

The ARLE program funding is generated through fines collected from red-light violations in Philadelphia and reinvested statewide in traffic safety improvements.
