Property Tax and Rent Rebate Help is Available, Brooks Says

HARRISBURG – Following important changes made to the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) Program for 2024, Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) invites residents of the 50th Senatorial District to enjoy free PTRR application assistance provided by her district office staff.

Help is available at all three of her district offices:

  • Greenville office: 100 Hadley Road, Greenville, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Phone: 724-588-8911.
  • Meadville office in the Vernon Township building: 16678 McMath Ave., Meadville, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone: 814-337-8132.
  • New Castle office: 1905 West State St. New Castle, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Phone: 724-654-1444.

“Because of changes to the program, more people will be eligible for relief than before. This is great news for our communities, but it does mean that people who haven’t applied before might need assistance,” Brooks said. “My staff members are happy to help, and I encourage anyone who wants guidance to please call any of my offices.”

The maximum standard rebate has increased to $1,000. The income cap has increased to $45,000 for both homeowners and renters. Only half of an applicant’s Social Security income is included in the calculations for eligibility. Starting this year, income caps are tied to the annual cost-of-living increases.

The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities. In addition to age requirements, applicants must have an annual household income of less than $45,000 to qualify. Applications are due by June 30.

Residents who would like assistance in applying for the rebates are asked to bring all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately. Anyone who wishes to have the payment made via direct deposit is asked to bring a voided check.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms are also available by contacting Brooks’ district offices or visiting her website.
