Brooks Announces $700,000 Grant to Meadville Medical Center

HARRISBURG (December 6, 2021) Access to health care received a big dose of support today with a $700,000 grant secured by Sen. Michele Brooks for Meadville Medical Center and Phase II of the Vernon Place Project along Route 322 and the Route 19 Corridor.

“Growing up here and raising a family here, I understand the need for accessible health care within our local communities. I worked to obtain these funds to help strengthen our health care offerings,” Brooks said. “Building upon my past work to help ensure access to health care by keeping Highmark and UPMC facilities in-network for this area during access negotiations, I also appreciate the opportunity to work with Meadville Medical Center to support their mission in continuing to offer high-quality health care here locally.”

“There are so many shared spaces within our community that our residents benefit from, either directly or indirectly,” Brooks said.  “They provide jobs and health care, along with vital services. This grant will build on the community’s investment in our spectrum of health care offerings. We have taken the long view to see how we can connect our communities and our residents together in the long-term for the future.”

This funding was awarded under the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

Brooks added, “I always look forward to working with residents to meet the needs of our local communities. Please contact me to see how we can partner together to enhance our hometowns.”
