Senator Brooks, Rep. Roae Secure $110,000 Grant for Meadville-Area Bicyclists, Bus Riders and Walkers

HARRISBURG (November 19, 2021) The French Creek Multimodal Corridor, along with the Crawford Area Transportation Authority, were awarded  $110,000 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority at its meeting this afternoon, Senator Michele Brooks and Rep. Brad Roae announced today.

As part of the French Creek Heritage and Entertainment District initiative, under the direction of the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County, the French Creek Corridor Project aims to encourage economic investment and connectivity by offering a high-quality experience for bicyclists, pedestrians and mass transit users of all ages.

Bus shelters will be erected and would be fully ADA-compliant with staged, covered docking available for up to 10 bicycles at each shelter to further integrate public transportation, and offer new mobility options with the Meadville Bikeshare Program. The covered docking for bicycles will include bike repair stations and kiosk information about both public transportation and Meadville Bikeshare.

“Whether you walk, ride, bike or drive, transportation and connectivity play a part in our lives and livelihoods,” Brooks said. “By connecting these community resources, we are also connecting our residents of all ages, interests and abilities.”

“It’s always good having state funding for important things awarded in our area,” Rep. Roae added.

“I always look forward to working to meet the needs of our local communities,” Brooks said.  “Please do not hesitate to contact my office to see how we can partner together to enhance our hometowns.”
