Sen. Brooks Announces PennVEST Awards to Jamestown School District and Shenango Twp. Municipal Authority

(HARRISBURG) April 22, 2020—Sen. Michele Brooks announced that Jamestown School District and Shenango Twp. Municipal Authority received approval for infrastructure projects today from PennVEST, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST).

Jamestown school officials have been working on a fix for flooding issues that have plagued its elementary school for years, with plans for excavation and other work to address stormwater drainage issues developed.

The Jamestown School District project will replace the existing stormwater conveyance system with pipes, inlets, open channel stabilization, and fencing.  A low-interest loan amount of $300,000 was approved today for the project.

For the Shenango Township Municipal Authority, the project will install sewage mains, two sewage pump stations, and force mains, along with a new headworks facility and an ultraviolet disinfection system for the regional treatment plant.  The board approved a loan of $481,491.00, and a $3,676,509.00 grant, for total funding of $4,158,000.

“It is my hope that this funding provides helpful financial assistance to residents with the overall cost of these projects,” Brooks said.
