Caflisch Park in Union City to Receive $50,000, Brooks Announces

HARRISBURG (Nov. 14, 2019) Sen. Michele Brooks was pleased to partner with Union City Borough to secure $50,000 for the rehabilitation of Caflisch Park in Union City, Erie County.

With this grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the borough plans to construct pedestrian walkways at the park, install playgrounds with the required safety surfacing, provide access for those with disabilities, improve landscaping, provide project signage, and make other related site improvements.

“Developing these parks will be a tremendous asset to this rural community,” Brooks said. “Whether it’s a small neighborhood park or a vast state park, these areas provide a wonderful setting for families to enjoy outdoor activities together.”

“These improvements will provide park access for all individuals, creating additional recreational opportunities and promoting health benefits and physical activity that will greatly enhance this local recreational treasure,” she added.

Brooks applauded the work of local officials and park supporters in announcing the grant.
