HARRISBURG –Sen. Michele Brooks said that the Shenango Township Municipal Authority was approved to receive a $7.8 million loan and a $2 million grant at today’s meeting of the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST).
“Since this project to extend sewage service is required under a consent order from DEP, it is my hope that this state support will help make these projects more affordable for local residents,” Sen. Brooks said.
In July, PennVEST also approved a loan amount of $4,889,347, and a grant of $4,432,857 for the first phase of this project. Today’s funding, consisting of a $7,874,551 loan and a $2,088,341 non-repayment amount, will help with the completion of Phases 2 and 3.
The project will consist of the construction of a new sewage collection system, with the waste then treated at the authority’s existing wastewater treatment plant.
