Brooks: Vital Records Walk-in Service to Continue for Area Residents

Harrisburg – State Sen. Michele Brooks announced today that the Pennsylvania Department of Health will open a new Vital Records Office to serve residents previously served by the New Castle office. The new office will open Monday, March 19.

The office hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will be located at 105 Nesbit Road in New Castle.  Same-day services will be offered for those who arrive before 11:30 a.m.

The Department of Health last month indicated it would terminate the walk-in, same-day service at the Division of Vital Records in New Castle. In a letter to Acting Health Secretary Rachel Levine, Senator Brooks noted the move would force area residents to travel to Pittsburgh for birth and death certificates.

Senator Brooks said she was pleased with the today’s development.

“I appreciate the opportunity to have input with Secretary Levine in restoring access to these important services for the people of the 50th district without having to drive to Pittsburgh,” said Senator Brooks.  “People renewing their CDL or getting a passport are just a couple of examples of the daily need for a Vital Records office that is closer than Pittsburgh.”
