HARRISBURG (Oct. 12, 2018) Communities in Crawford and Mercer County will receive recycling and leaf collection grants this year, Sen. Brooks said today.
The City of Meadville will receive $170,094 for recycling collection, education and leaf litter pick-up, she said.
Grove City will receive $85,000 to help with their leaf collection program, which has been in operation since 1990. The grant will help add an extra leaf collection on each street each season.
“It is important to prevent leaves from clogging drains and contributing to local flooding,” Brooks said. “Leaves on the street eventually end up in catch basins and clog storm sewers. These grant programs will aid these communities with their stormwater and flooding, and also help their recycling programs.”
